A woman’s wedding day should be one of the most personal days of her life: an expression of who she and her future husband are and who they plan to be as a married couple as they embark upon their future together.

Because it is so personal and so momentous, no one wants to feel that their wedding is just the same as hundreds of others. At the same time, most brides want to keep elements of ‘tradition’ about their wedding day. Perhaps a flowing ivory gown or a lace veil; Throwing the bouquet or throwing of confetti; cutting a big cake or cutting some moves in a ‘First Dance’, the list goes on. So, many brides struggle with how to maintain some classic tradition whilst still making their day feel uniquely ‘theirs’.

This is the problem I wanted to solve when I started Vintage Adornments – that and it allowed me to give new life to magnificent pieces of vintage jewelry! I hand make every piece here in Oxfordshire, England using original pieces of vintage jewelry rescued from England, France, Germany, Austria and Italy – countries who all have a long heritage of high fashion and magnificent jewelry. I use these pieces to make bridal belts and hair accessories: pins, combs, vines and on occasion tiaras.

Sometimes I make commissions to incorporate a piece of ‘grandma’s estate’ or ‘great aunt sophie’s collection’ into a bride’s wedding ensemble and I sell a lot of blue pieces that combine something old, something new, and something blue!

When a bride chooses one of my pieces she knows no other bride is wearing the same and she brings a piece of true English history and tradition into her wedding day.

I have collections at both www.vintageadornments.co.uk and at https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/VintageAdornmentsUK. There are different items in each shop of course because every piece is unique.
